cash rules everything around me… CREAM!!! get the money…. dolla dolla bill yalllllllll…. this song just got stuck in my head outta nowhere… bha thought i was makin it up, so i posted it to skool lil’ homie! haha, just playin… =D
(no, really… he didn’t know it was a real song… awwww. how cute. haha!)
chan =)
awww… how sad… NOT! he’s a doofus. =D
watched a ton of movies lately… let’s see which ones i can remember, shall we? =)
(beware!!! long blog ahead!!!)
the curious case of benjamin button: it was interesting. got off to a slow start, & it was pretty drawn out overall, now that i think about it. it was nearly three hours long. and brad pitt didn’t come on screen until about an hour into it. but i still liked it. it was odd. & sad, of course (anyone can guess what happens at the end). & i was doin age calculations throughout the whole thing, too, tryna figure out how old he was at certain times, cuz he obviously never looked his age, haha… i can see why it isn’t winning a bunch of awards… the special effects were amazing, but the acting itself was pretty average. hmmm.
slumdog millionaire: i LOVED it!!! i really did. it was beautiful. i realize that it’s hard for me to not like movies set in india, but this movie really deserves all the hype it’s getting. it’s awesome… the acting was great, and the story itself was just… wow. the things the lead characters had to live through before becoming young adults was astounding… but not in a good way… they lived a really hard life… okay, i’ll stop now. don’t wanna give anything away. but you must see this movie!!!
the namesake: another indian movie. i liked it. i didn’t like its sort-of cliffhanger ending, but it was still a good movie, in my opinion. sad, but good. =)
the darjeeling limited: another weird movie. but i like weird movies. so whateva. i watched it. and i liked it. =)
ferris bueller’s day off: i’ve seen it before, but me and my brother brenndan watched it again the other day. we missed the beginning (about 20 minutes) cuz it was on tv. but it’s okay. watching it reminded me of just how much i loved it. i couldn’t stop laughing. or, more accurately, i couldn’t stop cackling… =D
and, probably the most embarrassing to recall:
wild wild west: yea. sad, right? me and brenndan watched the whole damn thing. all the while, we sat remembering the year it came out, and how i dragged my whole family to see it for my birthday… i had a will smith obsession in my younger years, so i said “we have to see it.” and we did. but it was’t until i watched it the other day that i realized how horrific it was. such baaaaaaad acting, from everyone, really. so bad that i couldn’t help but laugh. pure cheesiness. but we watched it. then we sang the theme song at the end, nearly word for word. and yes, brenndan sang, too. he’ll deny it, but he remembered more of it than i thought he would. ;)
a side note: that will smith obsession is why i have two of his albums AND the wild wild west soundtrack. and why, to this day, my family still looks at me for a reaction when will smith is in a movie with no shirt on (i, robot and i am legend have some of those scenes)… they giggle, like “ooh, cheyanne, look! it’s will, and he doesn’t have a shirt on! ooooooh!!!” it’s so silly. i don’t have that girly crush on him anymore. i’m all about shia these days…. *sigh*
anyways, enough of that. gonna stop here. i’ve watched more movies, like jumper (duuuumb… christensen was dry as usual, but i loved jamie bell, heehee), pretty in pink (typical 80’s teen movie… i love duckie, heehee), sixteen candles (another typical 80’s movie… i love jake ryan and “farmer ted”, heehee), the golden compass (narnia + harry potter, kinda… sfx were terrific), 27 dresses (typical romantic comedy; i’ve seen better… & heigl is annoying), and some other i can’t remember now. but i should really stop. gotta check on the rice-a-roni i’m cooking for dinner tonight… =)
laters!!!
chan =D
yay! this is the new first couple’s first dance! ahhh, the whole day was just spectacular. and here, at the neighborhood ball, beyonce did an excellent job singing “at last”… she was so sincere, both during the performance and after it: she did an interview and barely held back tears of joy… it was all so amazing to watch and be a part of… WOOOO! but i’ll blog more about it later. i’m gonna see how i can get a copy of this for my mum’s mp3 player. =D
i had my very own movie marathon today. i watched four movies, all for free, all online. gotta love the internet… ;)
first movie: four christmases. it was aight. more of vince vaughn playing the same character he does in every movie, but i still liked it. made me laugh, so that was good. :)
second movie: twilight. i actually really, really liked it. it was much better than i expected. even the special effects turned out to be not as cheesy as i thought it’d be. i won’t be reading the books anytime soon, but i’m very excited for the sequels. hey, i might just watch it again tomorrow. :D
third movie: sixteen candles. i loved it! i hadn’t seen it until today, and i really, really loved it. it was hilarious… and i thought the geek was just so adorable… and i’m gonna be swooning over jake ryan for a while… yea… :D
fourth movie: the breakfast club. i’ve seen it before, but i just felt like watching it again. cuz it’s wicked. looooove this movie. gotta get it on dvd… :D
i also caught up on the episodes of 90210 that i missed… i wanted to watch house, but the episodes weren’t available on hulu… gotta look elsewhere… :(
anyways, i really enjoyed all the movies today. now, what to watch tomorrow? suggestions?…. of course not. i’m the only one that reads this thing! hahahaha!!!
(no, really. i pretty much am.)
chan :)
this vid is called validation. it’s an award-winning short that i found out about from kevin periera’s blog (yay!). it’s 16 minutes long, which is admittedly long, but it’s really good. you know you’re not really doing anything at this very moment, so you should take this time to watch it. =)
chan =)
p.s.- kevin always seems to recommend some great stuff. another reason why he rocks. =)
i wanted to post the video for “everlong” by the foo fighters, cuz my mum and i love the song and the video, but i can’t embed it here. bummer. so here’s another foo fave of mine, called “my hero”. yay! =)
(i just found out that it’s on the superman soundtrack… kool!)
let’s see. my day started off really slow. our landlady had to send over two different repair guys, one for the heat and one for our oven. i didn’t have skool anyways, and my parents didn’t want me home alone with the repair guys, so brenndan stayed home from skool. then they figured bha should stay too, so we didn’t have to worry about takin him to skool and pickin him up. we were told that the first repair guys was comin around 9:30, so we all had to be up early. ugh. i think he came around 11ish. typical for him to be late. the repair guys almost always are. the other guy came around 1:30, which was when he was expected, so that was great. when he left, brenndan went to his skool to try and drop off some paperwork, but the person he needed to see wasn’t there. ugh. me and bha stayed home and played games, me on the ps3, him on the computer. the three of us also played a lot of rock band 2 today. we even unlocked “one step closer” by linkin park! so exciting!
anyways, that was the beginning of the day. but the part of the day i was waiting for was when virginia came to visit! she moved to florida after we graduated from high school, which was a year and a half ago, but she’s gonna be in the tri-state area for the winter holidays this year, so she just HAD to swing by brooklyn and see all her peeps, haha. we met up at christine’s house, we being me, virginia, christine, laura and laurie. yay! it was sooooo fun. christine, laura and i were there by ourselves for a bit, playin the wii and crackin up at all the silly but very kool minigames. then virginia came (yay!), and we talked about a bunch of stuff. then laurie came after work with her sister (yay!), and we talked some more, haha. virginia couldn’t stop staring at everyone, cuz she hadn’t seen us in so long, and i don’t blame her: it’s always great to have all of us together, and i wouldn’t say it’s rare that it happens, but a lot of the time someone has something else to do that gets in the way. i’m lucky brenndan was home with bha today, or else i would have had that dilemma…
anyways, we had lots of laughs and more good times to store in our memory banks. we took some pictures, came up with another spontaneous dance, courtesy of christine, haha, and then virginia, laura, laurie and her sis all left. i stayed at christine’s for a little longer, then i went home, too. i didn’t realize how tired i was until i sat on my couch. i ate a bunch of cheez doodles and then i went right to sleep, haha. i woke up after 12am, and realized that my fam let me sleep there, all sprawled out, for over three hours. awwwww. how sweet!
also, my mum found out we unlocked “one step closer” and “everlong” on rock band 2, so we had a little session so she could sing them. but it was 1am, and my dad wasn’t too happy about that. but it’s LP and the foo fighters! it couldn’t wait! haha!
so yea. i think it was a chunky day, but all of it was awesome. we have a working oven, i have a warm room (sans the electric space heater), we made progress on rock band 2, AND i got to see my friends again! yay! epic win!
chan =D
that last blog isn’t even what i wanted to blog about today. i wanted to blog about something stupid today: my love for romantic movies!
i had a list of things to do today, but they all got thrown out the window when i started watching HBO. there was a movie on called “because i said so”, and in it, a mother (diane keaton) posts a personal ad online on behalf of her youngest daughter (mandy moore) with the intentions of finding her a “life partner” (her two older daughters are both married, one with a child as well). i don’t know why or how it happened, but i just got sucked in. and i loved it!
it happens to me all the time, and they end up being faves of mine. let’s see if i can make a list, shall we?
10 things i hate about you, the wedding date, 27 dresses, the family stone, the wedding singer, 50 first dates, chasing liberty, before sunrise, a cinderella story, amelie, crazy/beautiful, the perfect man, something new, garden state, catch and release, music and lyrics, legends of the fall, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera…
and there’s plenty more where that list came from. i don’t know what’s up with my obsession over these kinds of movies. maybe cuz the closest i’ve ever been to someone being romantic to me was granpa shotta on the street corner tryna get my attention with cat calls like “ay, sexy chinee doll”. and, may i say (if i haven’t before), i HATE that. >:{
the typical romantic movie will (almost) always have that random meeting, where the guy makes some sarcastic, funny, or even caring comment to the girl, she blushes and goes *tee-hee*, they have a few more random meetings, decide “hey, let’s go on a date”, then end up falling in love. awwwww! others will twist that up a little bit, but all in all it’s the same. and yet… i can’t help but watch, with some hope (that they get a happy ending), jealousy (cuz it’ll never happen to me) and intrigue (cuz i wanna know how it ends) all mixed up in my feelings jar. and what’s most ridiculous about all of this is that after the movie’s over, and the happy ending is complete, i watch the credits feeling so damn depressed. cuz, like i said, it’ll never happen to me. half because these movies don’t really dictate real-life, and half because no one wants to get with this:

yep. i’m pathetic.
and i’ve rambled on too long. i’m gonna go watch the soup now. cheer myself up.
